Across three venues in downtown Los Angeles’ Bendix Building (JOAN, Track 16, and
Ste 534), the work in Haunts spans a range of media and approaches, and casts light on the ghosts that follow us–individually and collectively, perpetually and imminently. During a time of transition, the artists in this exhibition present work that probes the phantoms—of institutions, identities, injustices, histories, legacies, desires, friends, and relations—that can both guide and complicate our future choices, actions, and being–whether ignored, confronted, summoned, or suppressed.
Haunts is curated by Aurora Tang, an independent curator and researcher, and program manager at the Center for Land Use Interpretation.
