Track 16 is thrilled to announce that Alicia Piller’s Diversity of Voices, Re-hydrating. Resisting Contamination.(2021) is now part of the California African American Museum’s (CAAM) permanent collection. The sculpture was first exhibited in Piller’s exhibition Atmospheric Pressures at Track 16 in 2022. Last year it was included in CAAM’s Getty PST exhibition World Without End: The George Washington Carver Project which was co-curated by Cameron Shaw and Yael Lipschutz. We want to express our deep appreciation to curator Essence Harden and CAAM’s Executive Director Cameron Shaw for their support of the acquisition.

Los Angeles based artist, Alicia Piller was born and raised in Chicago and received her Bachelors in both Fine Arts (Painting) & Anthropology from Rutgers University in 2004. While working in the fashion industry; living a decade in NYC and three and a half years in Santa Fe, NM, Piller cultivated her distinctive sculptural voice. Continuing to expand her artistic practice, Alicia completed her MFA focused on sculpture and installation from CalArts in May of 2019.
