Performance:
Hannah Hughes: Veuve Fraîche

Saturday, November 17 from 7-9pm
A close up of a woman 's nails on a black surface
Hughes suggests that her aesthetic impulse relates to "the trials of entering the symbolic realm, particularly for women.” Her title is drawn from the Duchamp work Fresh Widow which refers to the black veiled widows of World War I, a war whose end is currently having its 100th commemoration. Working off the contradictions between delirium and rationality, the performance is a love poem to community both globally and within our own city.
